Your Church Pews
Shile AME Church, The oldest Church in Galveston, Texas
We Restored their pews to their original beauty following damage from Hurricane Ike
What to Do
With the never ending flood and water damage we face in certain areas, your Church and home's contents are possibly at risk. In many cases you may think they are beyond repair.. This is not necessarily the case. Refinishing existing items is a fraction of the cost of replacement and preserves any historical or sentimental value of your furnishings. Although newer veneered furniture made with fiber or composite board are not usually candidates, veneered pieces constructed of solid wood are.
If your Church pews or home furnishings experience exposure to rising water you can take these steps to aid in salvaging the pieces.
* Get the items out of water as soon as possible, this may not be possible for floor secured pews or large pieces but works
for smaller pieces.
* Once the water has receded wipe the pieces down with towels or rags removing exterior moisture. Cleaning is not
necessary at this time.
* Obtain drying fans and set on floor allowing air to circulate and begin the drying process. This could take days or even
weeks. You may experience joints and seams separating, this is normal but is repairable.
* Contact your local refinisher as soon as possible for further assistance in removing the damaged items for restoration.
We have saved many a flood laden pieces over our 31 years in business If you desire, we can service your area. In any event please consider restoration. It would save you money and aid in preserving your historical or sentimental value.
